Russian forces unleashed a massive drone and artillery assault across Ukraine over the past day, killing three civilians and injuring eight others, according to regional authorities on February 17.
Ukraine's Air Force reported that 147 drones were launched overnight from Russian cities including Orel, Bryansk, Kursk, and Millerovo. Ukrainian air defense successfully intercepted 83 drones over multiple regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, and Kyiv.
The Kyiv Independent reports that another 59 drones vanished from radars, likely serving as decoys to overwhelm defenses.
In Donetsk Oblast, a Russian strike on Bilytske claimed the lives of two civilians, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin.
Meanwhile, in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, the town of Marhanets came under artillery fire, injuring four people. Among the wounded were a 64-year-old woman and three men aged 22, 26, and 54. One victim remains hospitalized with moderate injuries, reported Governor Serhii Lysak.
Earlier, a separate drone and artillery attack on the Nikopol district killed a 52-year-old man and injured a 74-year-old man, who sustained a leg wound.
Russian forces pounded 32 settlements in Kherson Oblast, including the city of Kherson itself, leaving two people injured, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin confirmed.
In Kyiv Oblast, drone strikes targeted several settlements, injuring a man in the Boryspil district. He sustained a hand injury but was treated at the scene.
