Russia launched a combined drone and missile attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast overnight on November 13, according to authorities.
Explosions and active air defenses were reported in the capital around 7:20 a.m., Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
A 48-year-old man sustained head injuries from falling debris in the Brovary district near Kyiv. The regional military administration and State Emergency Service reported a fire at a warehouse as a result of the attack.
Russia targeted the city with air-launched cruise missiles and Iskander-M or North Korean KN-23/24 ballistic missiles. Attack drones, including Shaheds or Gerans, were also deployed.
Ukrainian air defenses reportedly intercepted "several cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and up to 10 drones."
The Kyiv City Military Administration noted that power outages may be implemented as a preventive measure, as Russia continues to target energy infrastructure with winter approaching.
The capital has been preparing for intensified missile strikes this winter. On Nov. 8, Russia launched a similar missile and drone attack on Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, the first since early September.
In recent months, Kyiv has faced regular drone attacks.
Experts previously told the Kyiv Independent that this strategy may be intended to exhaust Ukraine's air defenses in preparation for a large-scale missile strike aimed at the country's already strained civilian energy infrastructure.
