A nationwide air raid alert sounded in Ukraine in the early hours of October 7.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko issued a warning as missile debris fell on the country’s capital.

Explosions were heard in Kyiv around 8:30 a.m. local time, as reported by Kyiv Independent journalists.

Around the same time, city authorities confirmed that air defenses were actively responding to the situation.

Debris from the missiles was found in the Solomianskyi and Holosiivskyi districts of Kyiv.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to the infrastructure.

The explosions occurred just after Russian forces launched MiG-31 fighter jets armed with Kinzhal ballistic missiles.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it detected projectiles flying toward both Kyiv and the city of Starokostiantyniv in Khmelnytskyi Oblast, which hosts a critical airbase.
