An old saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."
This saying rings true in this story, which revolves around a photo of a father and daughter that has circled the globe.
It's every parent's dream to see their child grow up. This dream came true for Ciarán Shannon from Belfast, Northern Ireland, who has been closely following his daughter, Niamh, since she was very young. And it's even documented in a photo that has now gone around the world.
BBC, who spoke with the father, reports,
"I am overwhelmed by the reaction my photos have received. The good thing is that now almost a million people know how proud I am of my daughter."
The first photo shows the father and daughter holding hands on her first day of school in September 1999.

The second photo shows them again in the exact same spot, their backyard, but now some years later, on her last day of high school. They continue to hold hands.

The third photo was taken in the same place as the first two and shows them again holding hands. This photo was taken on the day Niamh graduated from university in 2018.
