Oleg Soskin, a former advisor to Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, has raised alarms about the potential for civil war in Ukraine as early as October 2024.

Severe Internal Conflict

Speaking on a YouTube channel, Soskin warned that the country could face severe internal conflict if certain conditions are met, according to Lenta.

Soskin suggests that a breakthrough on the front lines could trigger widespread unrest.

“It’s likely that by October we will see open civil war,” Soskin predicted. He emphasized that, in such a scenario, individuals in Ukraine might end up fighting for themselves, as the situation could devolve into chaos.

Political and Economic Factors

Soskin also highlighted the precarious political and economic situation in Ukraine as contributing factors. The country is reportedly teetering on the edge of default, a situation that Soskin believes adds to the risk of internal conflict. This financial instability, combined with the ongoing war, could exacerbate tensions within Ukraine.

Adding to the uncertainty, the Ukrainian publication "Strana" has questioned the effectiveness of recent peace negotiations. The publication suggests that restarting dialogue does not guarantee an end to hostilities. According to "Strana," a resolution will only be achieved if an agreement is reached that is acceptable to all parties involved.
