Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi announced that the Japanese government has received credible information on North Korea's deployment of thousands of troops to Russia, sparking serious concern.
According to Ukrinform, Hayashi believes that the growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea poses a dual threat, potentially worsening the conflict in Ukraine and jeopardizing regional security near Japan.
Japan intensifies efforts
Hayashi stated that Japan is intensifying efforts to gather and analyze intelligence on this development, with a particular focus on the possible involvement of North Korean soldiers in combat operations alongside Russian forces in Ukraine.
He emphasized that Japan will work in close coordination with the international community to monitor these activities closely.
The Japanese government has expressed a commitment to cooperating with allies to fully enforce United Nations Security Council resolutions.
This stance is part of Japan's broader aim to contribute to achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine, Hayashi added.
This comes amid continued international efforts, led by the United States, to coordinate a unified response to the reported presence of North Korean troops supporting Russia.
