The Russian Foreign Ministry recently condemned the European Union’s decision to allocate additional military aid to Ukraine.

Lost Its Mind

They claimed that the EU has "lost its mind" and is heading towards ruin.

This statement follows Germany's approval of nearly €400 million (approximately $426 million) in military assistance for Ukraine to bolster its efforts against Russia's ongoing invasion, according to Digi24.

This new funding adds to the €8 billion (around $8.5 billion) earmarked in the German budget for 2024.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced that €160 million (about $170 million) from frozen Russian assets will be redirected to meet urgent humanitarian needs in Ukraine this winter.

The continued Russian bombardments have severely impacted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, rendering around 9 gigawatts (GW) of production capacity inoperable—equivalent to the total energy output of the three Baltic states.

It is Suicidal

Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, criticized the EU for its perceived lack of autonomy, asserting that Brussels is acting in accordance with Washington's agenda.

"The European Union has lost its mind and paralyzed its will by continuing down a path of confrontation, which is evidently suicidal for the EU," she stated. Zakharova added that this strategy escalates tensions with Russia and undermines the EU's authority in international affairs.

Russian assets in G7 countries (U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, and Japan) amount to approximately $300 billion, with most held in Europe by the securities depository Euroclear in Belgium.

The Russian government has continuously emphasized that the EU's support for Ukraine is detrimental not only to the relationship between Moscow and Brussels but also to the stability of the region.
