An explosives depot in the Voronezh region of Russia near the Ukrainian border caught fire late Saturday night following a drone attack attributed to Ukraine, local authorities reported, according to Ziare.

No Injuries

Governor Aleksandr Gusev announced via Telegram that several drones had been detected and subsequently destroyed by anti-aircraft defense systems in the Voronezh region.

The debris from these drones reportedly ignited a fire at a explosive depot located in the Podgorenski district, leading to detonations of stored explosives.

Despite the intensity of the fire and explosions, initial reports indicate that no injuries have been reported, which Governor Gusev emphasized as a relief amid the volatile situation.

Residents Evacuated

Emergency response teams were swiftly dispatched to the site, while precautionary evacuations of residents from nearby areas were conducted as a safety measure, Gusev confirmed. T

his incident underscores the ongoing conflict dynamics between Russia and Ukraine, marked by a relentless use of drone technology for strategic strikes since Russia's military offensive began in February 2022.

In recent months, Ukraine has escalated its targeting of Russian territory, focusing particularly on critical infrastructure such as energy installations that it alleges support the Russian military.

These attacks are part of Ukraine's strategy to weaken Russian logistical capabilities and disrupt supply lines, targeting locations just across the border. The use of drones, including those equipped with explosives capable of striking targets hundreds of kilometers away, reflects the evolving tactics in this protracted conflict.
