The Mi-8, a Soviet-era helicopter, is mainly used for transport by both the Russian military and government agencies, but it also performs combat and command roles. The helicopter’s estimated cost is between $10 and $15 million.

As of this update, the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russia has lost a total of 329 helicopters since the start of its full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Just days earlier, on October 5, Ukrainian forces shot down a Russian SU-25 aircraft in the Donetsk region, as confirmed by Serhii Horbunov, the head of the Kostiantynivka Military Administration.
