On the night of October 16, Russian forces launched a wave of attack drones (UAVs) from the northern direction, triggering air alerts across much of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

According to the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, numerous enemy drones, including "Shahed" drones, were spotted in multiple regions.

By early morning, UAVs were reported in the airspace over Chernihiv, Poltava, Rivne, Zhytomyr, and Cherkasy regions, all heading west.

Additional drones were also tracked in the Sumy, Kyiv, and Khmelnytskyi regions, prompting heightened alerts.

At 1:00 a.m., groups of drones from the Black Sea and Kherson region were detected, heading toward the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions.

The Air Force continued to monitor the movement of these drones and provided real-time updates on their course.

By 10:30 p.m., drones were observed moving toward Kyiv from Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as from Poltava.

The Ukrainian Air Force highlighted the increase in drone numbers as they moved across central and northern regions, with drones also detected near Rivne, Vinnytsia, and Kirovohrad.

Throughout the night, air alerts were declared in Kyiv and other regions as the situation evolved, with defense forces remaining vigilant against the ongoing UAV threats.
