The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine has launched an investigation into reports that six Ukrainian soldiers were captured and executed by Russian forces in late October.

According to operational data, on October 23, 2024, at around 17:17, Russian troops advanced on Ukrainian positions near Selydove.

During the assault, three Ukrainian soldiers were captured and subsequently executed while unarmed and in captivity.

Another reported incident occurred on November 1, 2024, around 14:00, when Russian forces attacked Ukrainian defenses in the same Pokrovsk area. In this assault, three more Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner and later killed by automatic gunfire.

The Prosecutor’s Office highlighted that executing prisoners of war is a severe violation of the Geneva Conventions and constitutes a serious international crime. Investigations have commenced under Article 438, Part 2 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code, which addresses war crimes leading to fatalities.
