Speaking during a visit to the Justice Department, Trump singled out CNN and MSNBC, alleging that they operate as "the armed wing of the Democratic Party."

"In my opinion, they are really corrupt (...). What they do is illegal," he declared, according to AFP.

"These media that literally write 97.6% bad things about me are the armed wing of the Democratic Party," he added.

"This has to stop. It is definitely illegal," he insisted.

Trump further claimed that negative media coverage was influencing judicial decisions and shaping legal interpretations.

"This is influencing judges and changing the law, it cannot be legal. I do not think it is legal. And they do it in total coordination with each other," he said, as reported by Agerpres.

The former real estate mogul and Republican leader has long been at odds with the press, making media criticism a defining aspect of his political persona since his first presidential campaign in 2016. In an unprecedented stance for a U.S. president, he frequently labels journalists as "enemies of the people" and dismisses unfavorable reporting as "fake news."

Since the beginning of his second term in 2025, Trump’s administration has imposed restrictions on the Associated Press (AP), limiting the news agency's access to the White House. His latest comments add to ongoing tensions between his administration and major media organizations, further fueling concerns over press freedom in the United States.
