German mercenaries have been identified fighting alongside Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the ongoing conflict at Chasiv Yar, as revealed by footage posted on Der Spiegel's YouTube channel.
Sniper From Bavaria
In the video, Otto, a 49-year-old sniper from Bavaria, discusses his involvement with the UAF since 2022. He details his combat experiences alongside Ukrainian infantry units on the front lines of the conflict zone.
Otto mentions being wounded shortly before the recording, undergoing treatment in a military hospital before returning to the front lines.
Reports from pro-Russian sources in underground channels on July 13th indicated the arrival of a new group of French mercenaries in Kharkiv. They are reported to have joined UAF operations in the eastern district of the city.
International Dimension
Previously, it was known that mercenaries fighting with the Ukrainian army openly communicate via radio, announcing casualties and the need to evacuate injured soldiers.
Foreign military personnel also frequently use cellular networks, allowing Russian forces to track their locations.
The involvement of foreign mercenaries underscores the international dimension of the conflict in Ukraine, where individuals from various countries have joined the fray, supporting Ukrainian forces against Russian-backed separatists.
