North Korea has issued a stark warning, promising to "completely destroy" its enemies if war erupts, following an order from leader Kim Jong Un.

Hatred Towards United States

This declaration was reported by state broadcaster KCNA on Sunday, July 28, according to Ziare.

High-ranking military officials, including Colonel Ri Un Ryong and Navy Lieutenant Commander Yu Kyong Song, expressed an intensified hatred toward the United States and South Korea. These statements were made during a meeting attended by Kim Jong Un to mark the 71st anniversary of the armistice in the Korean War, according to KCNA.

North Korea and the United States currently have no diplomatic contact, and negotiations aimed at reducing tensions and denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula have stalled since 2019. North Korean state media recently indicated that they do not expect any change in the situation, regardless of who is elected to the White House.

No Formal Peace Treaty

Accusing the U.S. and South Korea of being "determined to provoke a nuclear war," North Korean military officials vowed to strengthen their war readiness. They emphasized the capability to launch an "overwhelming attack on the enemy, anytime and without delay," should the respected supreme commander Kim Jong Un issue the order.

The Korean War ended on July 27, 1953, with an armistice signed by North Korea, the United States, and China, effectively ceasing hostilities. U.S. generals signed the agreement on behalf of United Nations forces supporting South Korea. While North Korea celebrates July 27 as "Victory Day," South Korea does not commemorate the date with any notable events.

The armistice concluded the war without a formal peace treaty, meaning the two Koreas remain technically at war.
