Iran has recently delivered short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, marking a significant development in the Ukraine war.

Ukraine Baces for Large-Scale Assaults

U.S. and Western officials have been warning of this potential transfer for nearly a year, with concerns that it could escalate the conflict, according to Digi24.

According to U.S. National Security Council spokesperson Sean Savett, this missile transfer represents a "dramatic escalation" in Iran's support for Russia.

Though the exact timing of the delivery is unclear, it comes as Russia intensifies its missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian cities.

With winter approaching, Ukraine braces for larger-scale assaults on its critical energy infrastructure. President Zelensky has called for increased air defense support from Western allies.

Claim to be Neutral

This missile delivery was first reported by The Wall Street Journal, and American officials have expressed alarm over the growing military partnership between Russia and Iran.

Iran had already supplied hundreds of drones to Russia, which have been used extensively in Ukraine. Additionally, reports suggest that Russia has built a drone manufacturing facility with Iranian assistance.

Iran has officially denied any missile transfers, reiterating its neutral stance in the conflict. However, the deepening relationship between Tehran and Moscow raises concerns that this could prolong the war.

Earlier this year, the G7 warned of new and significant actions against Iran should it continue supporting Russia militarily.
