Russia has expressed support for U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump's intention to initiate peace talks aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict, according to Alexey Chepa, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs.

Peaceful Resolution

Speaking to Lenta Chepa commented on the potential dialogue between Moscow and Kiev under a Trump presidency.

"There are numerous politicians in various countries who do not support NATO's current policy of escalation. Many people understand the harm of this position. That's why we constantly hear voices advocating for peaceful negotiations. Russia has always stood for negotiated solutions; we have held this stance since 2014, and we will support all efforts towards peaceful resolution. Sometimes, we encounter strange ideas about how to achieve peace, but in any case, we support all efforts towards it," stated Chepa.

President Vladimir Putin has articulated our position, and naturally, we will adhere to this position in all peace talks. (...) We must do everything possible to ensure that peace negotiations and issue resolution happen as quickly as possible.

Conclusion of Conflict

James David Vance, Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States, indicated that Donald Trump intends to discuss the conclusion of the Ukrainian conflict with Russia if he wins the presidential election.

The politician plans to negotiate with both sides of the conflict to hopefully end it.

Trump has repeatedly stated his ability to swiftly resolve the Ukrainian conflict. In May, it was reported that he had already devised a plan to address the Moscow-Kiev standoff.
