Russian Marines from the 810th Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet have captured 19 Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.

Captured Near Olgovka

This information was confirmed by a source within Russian security agencies and reported by RIA Novosti and Lenta.

The captured Ukrainian troops are from the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The capture occurred near the village of Olgovka in the Korenevsky district, a site that has seen intense fighting.

Russian military expert Yuri Podolyaka noted that the primary battles in the Kursk area have centered around this village.

Footage of the Ukrainian soldiers surrendering has been released by journalists, showing the troops in captivity. As of August 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported significant losses for the Ukrainian forces in this sector.

Ukrainian casualties include over 3,460 soldiers, 50 tanks, 25 infantry fighting vehicles, 45 armored personnel carriers, and hundreds of other combat vehicles. Additionally, Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile systems have been among the losses.

6000 Ukrainian Soldiers in the Region

Podolyaka highlighted that control of Olgovka is currently divided. As of the morning of August 19, Russian forces hold the eastern part of the village, while Ukrainian troops maintain control over the western section.

The attack on Kursk began on August 6 and has seen Ukrainian troops actively engaging Russian defenses.

Reports indicate that Ukraine has deployed approximately 6,000 soldiers to the Kursk region, with an additional 4,000 stationed as support in the Sumy region. In response, Russia has reportedly moved over 20,000 troops to bolster its defenses.

The offensive has prompted extensive evacuations, with nearly 3,000 civilians from border areas being relocated to safer zones.
