The war in Ukraine continues to take a heavy toll on civilians, with industrial and commercial sites frequently caught in the crossfire.

The latest attack in southern Ukraine has once again raised concerns about the impact of the conflict on non-military targets.

As reported by 20 Minutos, two women were killed on Tuesday when a Russian missile struck a factory in the city of Nikolaev.

The victims, aged 54 and 56, were employees of a food industry company operating in the area.

Damage and Official Reactions

Local officials have condemned the attack. Regional Governor Vitali Kim stated that Russia continues to act as a "terrorist state," while Nikolaev’s mayor, Alexander Senkevich, expressed his condolences to the victims' families, calling the attack "senseless destruction."

According to Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, rescue teams recovered the bodies from the rubble. The strike partially destroyed a workshop building and caused damage to administrative facilities.

Ongoing Threats to Civilian Infrastructure

Nikolaev, a key city in southern Ukraine, has been repeatedly targeted since the start of the war. The attack comes amid continued discussions about possible peace negotiations, though Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

As the conflict drags on, civilian casualties remain a stark reminder of the war’s devastation, with essential infrastructure and workplaces increasingly caught in the line of fire.
