This morning, dozens of Ukrainian drones launched a significant attack on Moscow, alerting authorities and briefly disrupting life in the Russian capital.

Several Houses Caught Fire

The drones arrived in waves, with reports of the first drones appearing around 8:30 a.m. local time.

Moscow’s air defenses intercepted drones over the districts of Ramenskoye, Domodedovo, and Kolomna, shooting down 32 drones within two hours, according to Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin.

As a result of the drone attack, Zhukovsky and Domodedovo airports suspended all flights temporarily, creating delays and safety concerns for travelers, according to Ziare.

Early reports confirmed that at least one person was injured. A 52-year-old woman from a Moscow suburb was hit by shrapnel and was transported to the hospital with burns to her face, neck, and arms, according to Russian newspaper Izvestia.

Additionally, several houses near Moscow caught fire after being struck by drone debris and anti-aircraft missiles, causing localized damage.

Intensified Drone Use

This attack marks one of the latest in a series of Ukrainian drone assaults targeting key areas within Russia.

Ukraine has increasingly used drones as part of its strategy to disrupt Russian military operations and logistics, targeting both border regions and major cities.

Since September, Ukrainian long-range drones have hit ammunition depots, military installations, and infrastructure across Russia.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine, nearing its 1,000th day, has intensified with both sides using drone warfare to gain a tactical advantage.

Ukrainian forces have faced challenges in defending against well-equipped Russian forces, especially in contested areas like eastern Donetsk. Russian troops continue their offensive, advancing through fortified positions and causing heavy losses on both sides.

However, Ukrainian officials believe that continued strikes on Russian military infrastructure and supply lines could gradually weaken Russia’s offensive capacity.
