Ukrainian forces have successfully demolished a second bridge over the Seim River in Russia’s Kursk region, near the village of Zvannoie, according to a recent announcement by Ukrainian Air Force Commander Nikolai Oleschuk.
Critical for Supply Routes
The strike, which was posted on Oleschuk’s Facebook page, aims to further disrupt Russian logistical capabilities in the area.
On August 16, Russian authorities reported the destruction of the first bridge over the Seim River in the Glushkovsky district. Telegram channels Baza and Mash claimed the bridge was hit by rockets from a HIMARS launcher.
Oleschuk shared a video of the attack but did not provide further details, noting that Ukrainian aviation continues to deliver precise airstrikes that significantly impact the conflict, according to Ziare.
The Glushkovsky district is critical for supply routes, with three bridges spanning the Seim River near the villages of Glushkovo, Zvannoie, and Karij. These structures are vital for logistics in the border area.
Offensive have Slowed
The Ukrainian military's recent offensive in Kursk has reportedly slowed after nearly two weeks of fighting. Russian forces have managed to reinforce their positions and block key offensive routes.
The Ukrainian advance has faced obstacles, including blocked highways and fortified Russian positions. Ukrainian troops are trying to bypass these barriers and expand their foothold in the region.
They have occupied the village of Vneszapnoie and are working to advance towards Glushkovo and Tetkino.
Efforts to breach the border west of Suja and expand supply routes are ongoing, with Ukrainian units encountering resistance. The dynamics of the operation are expected to depend on the reinforcements each side can mobilize.
The Ukrainian forces are replicating tactics used in their successful 2022 offensive to liberate Kherson, aiming to increase the conflict zone by 1.5 times if successful.
