Drones attacked a large distillery in the village of Krasnoye in Russia's Voronezh region, causing significant fire and explosions.

A video shared on the Exilenova+ Telegram channel showed the facility ablaze, initially reported as a hit on Novokhopersk, about 10 kilometers away.

The location was later confirmed to be Krasnoye by the Cyberboroshno community.

The "Ethanol Alcohol" distillery, one of Russia’s largest producers of ethyl alcohol, also produces animal feed from production by-products and operates mostly under state contracts.

In 2021, the facility underwent a $10 million upgrade, adding a thermal power plant, storage tanks, and a grain-processing workshop.

This attack raises questions about the importance of alcohol production for the Russian military.

In 2022, Parlamentskaya Gazeta reported that the Russian government supported easing regulations on ethyl alcohol production to benefit defense needs.

The Kirovsky Biochemical Plant, which produces alcohol from wood sawdust, is also considered critical for defense due to the unique properties of its non-food alcohol.

Producing ethyl alcohol from grain, as done at the Krasnoye distillery, is more efficient than wood-based production, but both types are strategically valuable.
