The Ukrainian military is adopting an innovative strategy by deploying "robot dogs" on the front lines in their ongoing conflict with Russian forces.

According to a report from WP these robotic quadrupeds, which have been in use since August, are now being airlifted by drones and dropped directly into combat zones.

A video released by the Ukrainian military shows a "Baba Yaga" drone releasing one of these robots from the air. Upon landing, the robot quickly activates and begins to move.

Another video, shared by the "Chortytsa" military group in early September, demonstrated a robot accompanying a Ukrainian soldier, equipped with a thermal camera to scout a wooded area.

These robot dogs are used for various tactical purposes, including transporting ammunition, monitoring enemy positions, and supporting frontline troops in combat operations.

Initially revealed by Ukraine's 28th Mechanized Brigade in August, these remotely controlled devices were first showcased patrolling a war-torn city.

The robot dogs, according to Bild, are manufactured by a British company specializing in drones.

They are capable of moving at a speed of 3.5 meters per second (11.5 feet per second) and can operate for up to five hours on a single battery charge. With anti-thermal camouflage, these robots leave a heat signature similar to a rabbit, making them difficult for enemy forces to detect.

In addition, the robots can carry loads weighing up to 7-8 kilograms (15-17 pounds), making them valuable assets for transporting supplies and enhancing surveillance on the battlefield.
