At around 8:30 a.m. on October 7, Russian forces launched a series of Kh-47M2 Kinzhal missiles and drones targeting Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and the Khmelnytskyi region, specifically the city of Starokostiantyniv.
According to Kyiv city Governor Serhiy Popko, all the missile targets were intercepted.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on Telegram that debris from the intercepted missiles fell in several districts across the city.
In Solomianskyi district, missile fragments damaged the roof of a school and a residential building, while other debris landed in open areas, sparking a fire that was quickly extinguished.
No casualties were reported in the area.
In Shevchenkivskyi district, debris fell near a pedestrian crossing, while in Holosiivskyi, pieces of the missile landed on a sidewalk and pierced the roof of a service minibus.
Along with the missile strike, Russian forces also launched an attack using drones. Kyiv’s air defense successfully neutralized about 15 strike drones approaching the city in waves from various directions.
“No reports of damage or casualties have been received. The situation is being closely monitored, and information is being updated,” Governor Popko stated.
